Yes, however this is not recommended, nor supported. Once the erasure process has started, it could be removed from the software. However, there will not be a record of the erasure; a report will be produced, which will only indicate the smartphone/tablet details, but nothing on the erasure. iOS devices may be left in "Recovery Mode" if they are unplugged before the erasure has finished.
